How to Spot Counterfeit Nikon Accessories

Counterfeit-accessories.jpgOne of the really disappointing things about the photography industry is the amount of counterfeit gear that's out there. If you're buying something from eBay or a garage sale or even a less reputable retail store, you could be getting ripped off and not even know it.

Worse than getting ripped off, the use of counterfeit gear - even unintentionally - can affect your warranty and could result in severe damage to your camera.

Nikon has put up a support page designed to help you identify these counterfeit products, some of which are a lot trickier than others. The tip off could be the color of the screws, or just a difference in printing. Other products, like the EH-55, are made to look like Nikon products that don't actually exist.
