GoPro Unveils Professional Solutions for Capturing, Stitching, and Publishing Virtual Reality Content at the NAB 2016 Show in Las Vegas

gopro_logo.jpegGoPro is unveiling a number of solutions for Professionals at the NAB show in Las Vegas, NV this week, including high end solutions for the capturing, stitching, and publishing of high resolution virtual reality content.

The annual NAB (National Association of Broadcasters) show is considered to be the premier trade association show for broadcasters. They advance the interests of members in federal government, industry, and public affairs; improving the quality and profitability of broadcasting while encouraging content and technology innovation.

So, many vendors use this show to demonstrate and introduce products for the Broadcast Industry, and GoPro is also unveiling some of their professional solutions at the NAB show this week.

omni1.jpegThose GoPro solutions include the Omni, a six camera spherical array, along with Odyssey, a panoramic stereoscopic 16 camera setup designed to work with the the Jump VR Platform from Google.

Omni is designed for very high image quality and works with web Kolor™ stitching software to generate content. GoPro's hardware for Omni allows synchronization between six HERO4 Black cameras. The concept is so that six cameras act as one, allowing a user to interact with one primary camera to configure settings for the array, initiating start/stop of recording for all of the cameras.

The Omni Package is designed for an optimized workflow, with easy integration with Kolor Autopano video, allowing the proofing of video in the GoPro VR player and publishing of content to the GoPro VR website.

GoPro also worked with Adobe to solve some of the problems associated with editing of spherical content, enabling native handling of 360 degree video a up to 8K resolution using Adobe Premiere Pro CC and Adobe After Effects CC.

Of course, GoPro is not forgetting that users want a solution to manage and view VR Content on mobile devices. So, you can expect to see apps for your favorite mobile devices available for that purpose.

gopro_vr_mobile-1.jpegGoPro is offering an Omni Package at $4999.99, which includes a GoPro Omni Sync rig, GoPro Kolor Software License, 6 GoPro HERO4 Black cameras with batteries, 6 GoPro USB Cables, 32GB microSD Cards and card readers, and more.

GoPro is also showcasing other professional products like the GoPro Odyssey, with packages that include 16 HERO4 Black cameras, synchronized down to the pixel-level, into a rugged all-in-one capture device that is optimized for Google's cloud-based Jump Assembler, which automatically stitches the camera content into unrivaled panoramic stereoscopic 8K30 video that can be viewed via YouTube
