Google Earth Supplements Satellite Photography with Kite Photography

Kite Google.jpgGoogle Earth is amazing, but it's far from perfect. Satellite photography may be able to provide a broad view of the world, but it can't get up close and personal. That's where photographer and sailor Frank Taylor comes in.

Taylor is currently in the midst of a five year trip that's going to take him around the world in a sailboat, and has partnered with Google to fill in for the satellite in some places where the traditional Google Earth approach just doesn't satisfy.

"We had a wonderful time visiting there, and one day we had perfect conditions to fly the kite," writes Taylor on Google Earth Blog. "It was a really unique experience because the local kids and some of the adults all came out to find out what we were doing. We asked the kids to help us when we had to bring down the kite."
