Fujifilm Seeks to Drastically Improve Sales - May Create Interchangeable Lens Cameras
The folks at Fujifilm have a goal. By March of 2012, they're looking to be the number four camera manufacturer in the world. By 2013, they want to be the third largest in the world.
Of course, a goal like that requires a significant amount of effort on the part of Fujifilm. Takeshi Higuchi, head of the Fujifilm camera division, told Reuters that one of the things the company could do to spur on sales is to reenter the interchangeable lens market.
Another change that may be coming from Fujifilm is a move to production facilities outside of China. "We do feel a risk in China in terms of wages and the high staff turnover," says Higuchi. He says that Southeast Asia seems likely, with Thailand looking particularly promising.
