Flickr Now Gives 90 Days Before Deleting Data

Flickr-delete.jpgThe folks at Flickr have been coming under fire recently for their account deletion policy. Up until now, anyone who deletes their account has immediately had their pictures, captions, metadata and more completely wiped out from Flickr's site.

This probably isn't a big deal if you're deleting your account on purpose, but that's not always the case. Whether the account is deleted without notice or the account is hacked and deleted maliciously, the immediate deletion of all data is problematic.

That's why Flickr introduced a new policy. Now, instead of immediately deleting everything from your account, they're going to be hanging onto it for 90 days. The data will no longer be available publicly, but should you wish to recover it, Flickr will still store it on its servers.
