Eve Arnold Will Receive Lifetime Achievement Award

On April 22nd, the day after her 98th birthday, Eve Arnold will be present with a lifetime achievement award for her work.  The honors will take place at the Sony World Photography Awards , where a retrospective of her work will be on display.

Eve Arnold started her photography career back in the early 50s, where she studied under Alexei Brodovich.  In 1954, she became the first woman ever taken on by Magnum.  There she came under the tutorage of Henri Cartier-Bresson and Robert Capa.

She became increasingly involved in civil rights, and even followed and photographed Malcom X.  She photographed some of the biggest celebrities of the time as well, such as Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford and Marlene Deitrich.
Eve continued to photograph well into her nineties and is still an active voting member on Magnum.

A retrospective of Eve's work will be shown from the 22nd to the 27th of April in Cannes as a part of the World Photography Festival.
