Dropbox Acquires Snapjoy for Photo Sharing Features

Snapjoy.pngDropbox is an incredibly popular service for keeping files synchronized, but it's sort of a general purpose program. It's not particularly pretty and it's definitely not geared towards photographers like some others, but that may be changing soon thanks to the company's recent acquisition of Snapjoy.

Dropbox hasn't made an official comment on the purchase yet, but Snapjoy co-founder Michael Dwan says that there's a lot to be gained by being a part of the larger company. "The user experience we always wanted was limited by our development capacity and the economics of scale," he says. "Dropbox has some of the best talent in the world and is operating at incredible scale, so a lot of the barriers are removed."
