DJI Details Mavic Mini Foldable Drone

DJI has revealed its latest drone model, the Mavic Mini. Pre-orders are now live via B&H Photo-Video for $399 with shipments set to launch on November 11.

"To design a drone as lightweight, compact yet capable as Mavic Mini was one of the most challenging projects we’ve ever tackled at DJI," said Roger Luo, President, DJI. "Distilling top-of-the-line features into a palm-of-your-hand drone is the culmination of years of work, and we are ecstatic to bring a new class of drone to the DJI lineup. Mavic Mini's long flight time, ultra-light weight and high-quality camera makes it DJI's everyday drone – and most importantly, it’s easy to fly, no matter your experience level with drones."

The Mavic Mini is a portable, foldable drone that weighs in at only 249 grams. As a result of the device's ultra-light frame, the unit has been classified under the safest drone category, freeing the Mavic Mini from certain regulations that heavier models are subject to in many locations. The drone's integrated camera features a 1/2.3-inch sensor with support for 2.7K video at 30fps, 1080p video at 60 frames per second, and 12-megapixel photos. In addition, the unit includes a three-axis motorized gimbal to ensure steady capture.

Users can pilot the drone using the included remote and the device is rated for up to 30 minutes of flight time. Finally, the drone also offers several safety features, including geofencing, AeroScope remote identification, built-in altitude limits, and an automatic return to the launch point initiative if the device loses connection to the controller or the battery level becomes too low.
