DIY: Use Carbon Fiber Film to Protect and Style your Gear
The tutorial written up by the folks at DIY Photography couldn't be simpler. You'll need scissors, the carbon fiber itself, and a heat gun or hair dryer. And of course you'll need the thing you're actually planning on putting the carbon fiber on. The tutorial shows how to apply it to a lens hood, but there are countless other applications.
If you want to go for the full-on automotive carbon fiber look, you'll also need some clear lacquer spray paint, but keep in mind that this makes things even shiner and more likely to catch significant reflections.
