DIY: Make a Dirt Cheap Macro Extension Tube

Macro Tube.jpgMacro extension tubes can range in price from cheap to expensive, and there's plenty of difference between them. At the high end, extenders feature electronic contacts that allow your lens to communicate with your camera and vice-versa. On the low end though, they're essentially just tubes.

Insructables user snelpiller decided to try and make one of his own in an effort to save a few bucks and learn a bit in the process.

"The great thing about this project," writes snelpiller, "is that you can make it as long/short as you yourself require." Compatibility isn't an issue either. "It will fit with any lens made for the canon EOS series."

One thing to note, according to the user, is that the longer the tube, the smaller your focus range.
