Connecticut Senator Proposes Bill to Make Law Enforcement Accountable for Interfering with Photographers

We tend to stay out of politics here at Steve's; except when it comes to photographer's rights. There's been a lot of buzz recently involving photographers and authority figures - especially law enforcement. As we all know, taking a picture of a police officer in the course of their duty isn't illegal, nor is the taking of photographs in a public space. The police don't always seem to know this though, and that's where the problem lies.

A new bill from Connecticut senator Eric Coleman aims to hold police officers accountable for their actions when interfering with completely legal photography. It passed in the state senate and is now set to go up before the house. If approved, the bill will go into effect on October 1st.
