Cinematographer Shane Hurlbut and Letus Develop DLSR Filmmaking Products

Hurlbut-Rig.jpgHollywood interest in DSLRs has skyrocketed over the last few years. Still cameras went from being fairly useless in the actual shooting of movies to being regularly used in action scenes. This new trend has caused one very big cinematographer to team with Letus to create a line of products made for the purpose of shooting films with DSLRs.

We've seen a few DSLR rigs and adapters made to attach DSLR cameras to existing rigs, but the Master Cinema Series was designed by Hurlbut to satisfy the needs of a pro cinematographer.

"My team and I have shot 2 feature films, 20 shorts and over 100 commercials on the DSLR platform, using Red Rock, Zacuto and Cinevate rigs," writes Hurlbut on his blog. "All of them performed well, but none of them seemed to fit me, my soul and how I liked the rig to feel on my shoulder or how it converted like film cameras."

The Master Cinema Series from Letus can be configured as a shoulder cam, studio cam, man cam or action cam. Components are available on their own, while the complete set will run you $6,500 directly from Letus.
