Casio's Introduces The QV-2900UX, 2.11-Million Pixel Digital Camera With Unique Bestshot Feature

DOVER, NJ, June 25 , 2001-Casio, Inc., Dover, NJ, in conjunction with Casio Computer Co., Ltd., Tokyo, Japan, announced at the PC Expo Show that opened today at the Jacob Javitz Convention Center in New York City, the launch of the QV-2900UX, a new 2.11-million pixel CCD digital camera featuring high magnification zoom up to 32x and super close-up. The camera incorporates an 8x Optical Zoom and 2x/4x Digital Zoom.
One of the most important features of the QV-2900 is Casio's unique BestShot feature that allows you to select the icon that best reflects your imaging situation. The camera will automatically select the best combination of aperture and shutter speed for you. "Casio's built-in icons such as "night," "fireworks" -- and 26 others - handle tough photographic situations with "point-and-shoot" simplicity," said Krys Krawczyk, product manager for Casio's Digital Imaging Division. He said that there are 36 additional icons on a CD for a total of 64 BestShot modes.
"For the first time, a non-technical person can succeed, where all-automatic cameras fail," said Krawczyk. He pointed out that all-automatic cameras average the exposure setting and are unable to predict where and when the photographic scene requires fast or slow shutter speeds, ASA sensitive adjustments, or focus shifts. "The BestShot delivers 64 shortcuts for shooting situations where an all-automatic can't deliver," he said.
The QV-2900UX, suggested retail, will be available for shipment starting July, 2001.
