Carl Zeiss and Schneider-Kreuznach Join Micro Four Thirds Standard Group

olympus_e-pl2_blk_550.jpg"This standard has great potential," says Dr. Josef Staub, CEO of the Schneider Group. "It simplifies and improves the options for compact digital cameras and offers an excellent opportunity for the industry as a whole, as well as for us as a lens manufacturer."

Both Schneider-Kreuznach and Carl Zeiss have joined the Micro Four Thirds group to take advantage of the new lens standard. All members of the group are able to make and distribute accessories for the Micro Four Thirds system, which means you'll be seeing plenty of new lenses in the near future for your Olympus or Panasonic EVIL camera.

Since the standard defines sensor size, lens mount and a variety of other requirements, new components will be fully compatible with all Micro Four Thirds cameras. That's great news for lens manufacturers who otherwise have to make specific lenses for each brand.
