Canon Updates the EOS 7D and Rebel T2i

canon_eos7d_wft_550.jpgCanon users have some reason to celebrate thanks to a pair of firmware updates that fix some issues with their cameras. The fixes for the EOS 7D focus on external lighting, while the T2i gets an improvement in Auto Lighting Optimizer picture quality.


Be sure to follow Canon's instructions when updating your firmware, including plugging the camera into power or using a fully charged battery pack.

Canon EOS 7D

  • Fixes a phenomenon in which the settings of the Speedlite Transmitter ST-E2 revert to the default settings when both the camera and the ST-E2 are set to auto power off.
  • Fixes a phenomenon in which the Macro Ring Lite (MR-14EX, MT24-EX) and slave flashes do not sync while shooting wirelessly.

Canon Rebel T2i/EOS 550D
  • Fixes a phenomenon in which tone jumps become noticeable in some images, depending on the shooting scene, when shooting with the Auto Lighting Optimizer settings (Low / Standard / Strong).
