Canon Unleashes Three New PowerShot Digital Cameras

Canon has just announced three exciting new PowerShot models, just in time for the upcoming holiday season. Covering a broad range of needs, one of these models will appeal to just about anyone in the market for a consumer point-n-shoot.

First off we have the affordable PowerShot SX130 IS. Building off of the SX120 IS from last year, Canon has added some key improvements to make this model even more appealing than its predecessor. These include increased resolution up to 12-megapixels, a wider 12x optical zoom range starting at 28mm, a 3.0-inch LCD screen, manual pop-up flash unit, 720p HD video option, and plenty of exposure options for everyone in your household or office. All this for just $249.99 US.







canon_SD4500is_550.jpgNext we have Canon's latest Digital ELPH model, the PowerShot SD4500 IS. This unit shares most of its DNA with the SD4000 IS we reviewed just last month. This new model boasts a fast 10-megapixel CMOS image sensor, Canon's HS (High Sensitivity) system for improved low-light performance, 3.0-inch LCD, a powerful 10x optical zoom lens, and Full 1080p HD video recording. The SD4500 IS will ship for about $349.99 US.





canon_S95_550.jpgWe saved the best for last, and that's the all new PowerShot S95. We absolutely loved the PowerShot S90 from last year, and it looks like we're going to have similar feelings for the S95. While most of the key features have stayed the same (large 1/1.7-inch 10-megapixel CCD imager, fast f/2.0 3.8x optical zoom, 3.0-inch LCD, loads of powerful exposure modes/controls), Canon has made some awesome improvements to an already great camera. These include their new in-camera HDR scene mode, 720p HD video recording function (the S90 was limited to VGA), increased burst mode performance (1.9fps over 0/9fps, or up to 3.9fps in Low Light mode), and they've added their newer Hybrid IS system, making the PowerShot S95 the first compact camera from Canon to include this technology. The S95 will retail for $399.99 US.
