First we have the PowerShot G11, which continues the tradition of past G series models with powerful features, precise control, and a cool retro look. This model replaces the PowerShot G10 from last year. As with past G cameras, the G11 was designed specifically for those who want all the controls and features of a dSLR stuffed into a compact shell.

Some of the G11's main features:

  • DIGIC 4 image processing system
  • 2.8-inch Vari-angle LCD screen
  • 5x wide view optical zoom lens (equivalent to 28-140 mm)
  • True OIS system (Optical Image Stabilization)
  • Canon's new Dual Anti-Noise System (combines high sensitivity image sensor with enhanced DIGIC 4 noise processing)
  • RAW + JPEG still image capture
  • MSRP of $499

Next we have the PowerShot SX20 IS, which replaces the very popular PowerShot SX10 IS from late last year. This capable ultra-zoom continues to use same 20x optical zoom lens with OIS, 2.5-inch Vari-angle LCD, Digic 4 image processor, and AA power source we saw with the SX10.

New features include:
  • 12-megapixel CCD image sensor
  • 720p HD video capture at 30fps with stereo sound
  • HDMI output
  • MSRP $399

SX120 IS upgrades:
  • Increased resolution with a 10-megapixel CCD image sensor
  • DIGIC 4 image processor
  • Enhanced Face Detection system detects up tp 35 faces within the frame

Next is the PowerShot S90, which is the long awaited successor to Canon's classic line over powerful compact cameras. Canon has not released a model in this line-up since back in 2005 with the PowerShot S80.

While this new powerful little guy shares resemblance with the Digital ELPH models, Canon has packed in some serious features and controls borrowed from their G cameras. This model is aimed towards professional and amateur photographers owners who are looking for a pocketable camera that still provides a wealth of advanced technologies and control.

These include:
  • The same "high sensitivity" 10-megapixel CCD imager found on the G11
  • Canon's new Dual Anti-Noise System (combines high sensitivity image sensor with enhanced DIGIC 4 noise processing)
  • Pop-up flash unit
  • A fast and wide 3.8x f/2.0 optical zoom lens (28-105mm equivalent)
  • True OIS system (Optical Image Stabilization)
  • Intuitive lens "Control Ring" offers quick and easy operation of manual functions
  • High resolution (461k pixel) 3.0-inch LCD screen
  • RAW + JPEG still image capture

Last but not least, we have two new Digital ELPH models, the SD980 IS and SD940 IS. These ultra-compact models share many features, like a 12-megapixel image sensor, 720p HD video capture at 30fps, DIGIC 4 processors, and HDMI output. Distinguishing features are listed below.
