In addition to headquarters in London and Tokyo, Canon will soon have a new place to call home in Mellville, New York.

"Over the past 40 years, Canon U.S.A. has developed strong roots in the Long Island community and we are thrilled to continue to make Long Island our home," said Joe Adachi, president and CEO of Canon, U.S.A.  The new headquarters will serves as a center of operations for business in both North and South America.

The new facility is designed with efficiency in mind.  The design emphasizes natural lighting, energy-efficient materials and equipment, and a landscape design that "will utilize native species and drought-resistant vegetation."

In all, it's a five story office building that's nearly 700,000 square feet in area along with two multi-level parking garages.  Getting something like that built isn't easy, and Adachi makes a point to mention the help the company got in building it.  "Canon is very grateful for the support we have received from every level of government and the local community to bring this new, state-of-the-art facility from concept to reality."
