Canon Announces the EOS-1D C DSLR with 4K Video Recording

The folks at Canon have just revealed a brand new DSLR that's raising the bar on video recording quality. The EOS-1D C is capable of taking 1080p video at 24p or 60p and 4K video at 24 frames per second. That's right, 4K - four times the resolution of 1080p.

"The Canon EOS-1D C digital SLR camera was designed in response to the needs of filmmakers, television producers, and other high-level motion-imaging professionals," says company VP Yuichi Ishizuka. "Not only does it combine 4K and Full HD video capture with a convenient design, its use of dual CF cards also offers an efficient workflow compatible with today's post-production requirements."

Of course, the EOS-1D C also takes still photos, with the same performance as the EOS-1D X. You'll find a sensitivity range from ISO 100 to 51,200 and you can take shots at up to 12 frames a second in continuous shooting mode.

The EOS-1D C will be available this year at a suggested price of $15,000.
