Canon announced that they're currently developing a plug-in for Final Cut Pro that would make editing and importing video from EOS cameras a great deal simpler.

The company promises a smoother workflow for EOS users.  The main feature touted is the ability to use the 'log and transfer' feature on any of Canon's EOS 5D Mark II, EOS 7D and EOS-1D Mark IV DSLRs.  The update allows users to simply insert metadata into their clips while they're still on the camera.

You'll also be able to add metadata while editing, including timecode, reel names, and other data. Import speed is kicked up significantly with the new update.  According to Canon, the plug-in will cut conversion time in half when using Apple's ProRes 422 codec.

The plug-in is being worked on now, and a Beta version is set to release in March.
