BYO Image Search Finds Photos That Look Like Yours

The latest innovation from the folks at Idee Inc. is a search engine designed to find photos that look similar to yours. It's pretty slick.

The search engine is web based, and can use either a photo that you upload, or a photo that's already online. You'll need to limit yourself to a 1MB size for photos, which makes pulling shots from Facebook the easiest way to use the site.

Some pictures match better than others, and the primary characteristic for the match seems to be the color of the shot. Snow and water are sometimes confused for example, since waves breaking creates a lot of whiteness.

Still, the Image Search Lab could be a very useful tool for those looking for ideas.
