Block Out That Glare with a DIY Monitor Hood

If you're editing in a room with light coming in from the windows or other bright light sources then a monitor hood is an essential. Monitor hoods aren't exactly expensive, but why spend money on something that you can make yourself.

The latest project over on DIY Photography teaches you how to make your own monitor hood, giving you complete freedom to customize and save a few bucks while you're at it. The hood created in the guide uses plastic, but creator Roger Sacul says that foamboard will work if you don't feel like working with plastic.

You'll need a little bit of time on your hands to make this, but the materials are pretty cheap and the construction isn't too complicated. It's well worth taking a look at.
