Australian Bird Does a Dead-On Shutter Sound Impression
This is something you have to see to believe, and even then it's a bit hard to swallow. It's real though. Though the video is on YouTube it's not some fan-made spoof. This is an excerpt from a David Attenborough show on the BBC.Watch the video (skip to around 1:50) and you'll see a bird that does a perfect impression of the sound of a camera shutter. Keep watching and you'll hear it do a camera with a motor, a car alarm and even a chainsaw. It's absolutely stunning.
It turns out the Australian Lyrebird is a well known mimic. It imitates the call of other birds, the sounds of other animals and even less-commonly heard sounds like camera shutters, car horns, crying babies and - amazingly - the human voice.
