Apple Announces the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus: Two Powerful New Smartphones with Enhanced iSight Cameras, Including a New Dual iSight Camera on the 7 Plus

The much anticipated Apple event has come and gone, and they've unveiled several new products. The two we're going to focus on are the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.

iPhone_7_5colors.jpegStarting with the iPhone 7, we have a sleek and stylish new version of the iconic smartphone, which is being offered in new black and jet black finishes (as well as Silver, Rose, and Gold). The phone is now water and dust resistant (IP67 protection standard), giving it almost lifeproof specifications. The new 12MP iSight camera on the 7 offers built-in Optical Image Stabilization, a f/1.8 lens that lets in 50% more light, increased sensor performance (50% faster than the 6's), better power consumption (sensor is 30% more energy efficient), and a new Quad LED True Tone flash unit (throwing 50% more light than previous flash units). See our iPhone 7 Preview to learn more about this beautiful new smartphone.

iPhone_7_Plus_iSightCAMERA.jpegNext up is the iPhone 7 Plus. Like with the iPhone 6/6S models, the Plus model gets the better camera system. On the 6 models, only the Plus versions received the built-in OIS for improved iSight performance. Now both models offer Optical Image Stabilization, however the 7 Plus takes the 12MP iSight wide-angle (28mm) camera from the 7 and combines it with a second 12MP iSight camera with a telephoto (56mm) lens, creating a new Dual Camera setup. By combining one camera with a wide-angle lens and one with a telephoto lens, the 7 Plus Dual iSight Camera can offer users a 2x optical zoom, with a 10x digital option. Apple claims this new dual camera technology also allows for increased bokeh effect, making for much more pleasing portrait shots. Check out our iPhone 7 Plus Preview to get all the details.
