Getting a new camera is exciting. You took your time and did your research before settling on the make and model you wanted to buy. You bought new lenses and other accessories and were ready to blow the world away with your images, but there was one problem... your new camera's RAW codec isn't supported on any photo editing app yet.

Sure, you could use the jpeg copy of your image to edit and throw up on social media, but you won't be able to get the details out of the shadows or highlights like you would with a RAW image.

Support from software manufactures with updated codecs used to take months after a camera was released to see the light of day. Thankfully, however, Adobe is on the case and just announced Camera Raw support for these highly anticipated and just released new cameras.

  • CANON EOS R
  • FUJIFILM X-T3
  • NIKON COOLPIX P1000
  • NIKON Z7
  • PANASONIC LUMIX DC-LX100 II

Here's a chart with more specific information from Adobe.

Camera Raw allows you to enhance RAW images and import them into Photoshop, Lightroom Classic CC, Lightroom CC, Photoshop Elements, After Effects and Bridge.

So, get out there and play with your new toy without fear of being able to edit your new images.
