A Portrait Lighting Cheat Sheet
Lighting is one of the most important elements of a photograph. It can make the difference between a great shot and something that just doesn't measure up. But it's also one of the more difficult things to pre-plan.
The folks over at DIY Photography put together a cheat sheet to help out with lighting decisions. They took a number of photographs using the same camera, lens, model and backdrop under different lighting conditions.
Each photograph used the same light as the source, but using different methods to control the light. Since every photograph is identical aside from the lighting, you'll be able to see the subtle difference between a 20 x 90 vertical softbox and a 20 x 90 horizontal softbox.
The card is free to use and print for your own purposes, and you can find a full size 2400 x 2500 version right here.
