$5,000 Tripod Head Gets Perfectly Level Shots at the Touch of a Button

We have all been in situations where we would give anything just to get a level shot.  Setting up a tripod on uneven ground, or hindering terrain can be a pain.  Adjusting and readjusting a tripod, trying to get that bubble to sit right, is frustrating to say the least.

Dr. Carl Koch knows the feeling.  He got sick of trying to keep his camera level, so he decided to do something about it.  The result is the Acaldus, a tripod head that automatically levels itself.  Simply pop the camera on, wait a few seconds, and you're good to go.

Koch based the tripod head on an airplane flight simulator.  It's got an inclinometer that measures where the head is and then uses stepper-motors to even things out.  If you like, you can even make manual adjustments using the buttons on the side.

The Acaldus can be used either plugged in or with a battery (not included) that should last you for a full day of shooting.  Simplicity doesn't come cheap though, the Acaldus comes in at a whopping $5,000.
