Power DVD: Converting 2D Movies to 3D
Today’s audiences can all enjoy 3D movies in the comfort of their own homes, thanks to Power DVD. Some DVD movies have been originally released in 3D, and television is anticipating the release of more material that will be intended for 3D viewing on 3D televisions. However, Power DVD has taken the technology a step further, allowing audiences to view virtually any program that has been released on DVD in the 3D format. PowerDVD lets viewers convert 2D movies into 3D format. There’s some equipment you will need, but Power DVD does the rest; all you have to do is select the settings.
You will need the program and CyberLink PowerDVD 10, but you’ll also need a 3D monitor for playback and a pair of 3D glasses for every viewer.
How to Set It Up
Once you have configured your system, bring up the program and select “Play.” During playback, you’ll want to bring your cursor down to the 3D button on your playback toolbar (it’s in the lower, right-hand corner). Once you’ve selected it, a 3D configuration window will pop up. There, you’ll need to indicate your 3D compatible display system from the drop-down menu.
Your next step is to select the “Enable CyberLink TrueTheater 3D” option with your cursor. Next, you’ll need to use the “3D Scene Depth” slide-bar to customize the 3D depth for your particular screen and glasses. (You’ll want to check this with the glasses on.) Slide it into the optimal position for your viewing. Finally, click on the “OK” button. Now it’s time to enjoy your selected DVD in amazing 3D.
How to Disable It
Once the CyberLink PowerDVD option has been selected, it will continue in the “Enabled” position, regardless of whether you close the program. To disable it, go back to the configuration window, where you’ll de-select the “Enable CyberLink TrueTheater 3D” option with your cursor.
Although DVDs that were shot originally as 3D are technologically configured slightly differently to begin with, the final result is not considerably different than the results CyberLink PowerDVD has allowed viewers to see 3D with the convenience of being able to access their own video library with 3D results.
With the new 3D option, CyberLink PowerDVD has ushered in a new era of viewing for the market. Viewers are no longer hindered to either 3D theaters or the selections that the market offers.
The market for 3D DVDs is growing exponentially, but now you’re no longer limited by what the market has to offer. Take your favorite DVD movies, and CyberLink PowerDVD lets you enjoy them as you never have before, in stunning 3D.
