Editing AVCHD with Edius Neo 2
Edius Neo 2 is a video editing software solution that is built upon the real-time mixed format editing technology. The Edius Neo 2 provides native video editing and manipulation of HD and AVCHD formats. The Edius Neo 2 software suite was primarily designed to handle and manage HD (high definition) projects and is the only editor that edits in the high definition mode. Edius Neo 2 can also easily handle AVCHD. The following tutorial explains how to edit AVCHD with Edius Neo 2.
Step 1: Copy Recorded Video Clip to Hard Drive
You will remove the memory card from your AVCHD camera and plug it into the card reader on your computer. If a card reader is not available, use the USB cable and connect the camera to your computer in “PC” mode. Use Windows explorer to locate and copy the recorded video footage to your computer’s hard drive.
Step 2: Launch Edius Neo 2 and Import Recorded Video Clip
Select the Edius Neo 2 application shortcut from the programs menu to launch the software. Once Edius Neo 2 loads, you will see a “Recent Project” window. If you would like to continue on a recent project, then pick one. Otherwise, you can pick a preset project from the “New Project” pane according to your preferences. Use the right pane to select appropriate resolution, frame rate and other details. Additionally you may create a new preset customized to your specific needs by clicking on “New Preset” and configuring the “Project Settings”.
Once done with the above, you will see “Project Name Setting” box. Put in a suitable name and folder location. You will go to the BIN windows and select the video files from your stream folder. Once selected, the clips will show in the BIN windows.
Step 3: Edit the File
You will select the recorded video clip and drag it to the timeline. Put in any other clips that you wish to edit. If played, the files should now play seamlessly. Once the required video clips are in the project BIN or on the timeline, you can edit them to add transitions, music, sound effects and titles, as you like.
Step 4: Save the File
Once you are done editing the files with Edius Neo 2, you will need to save the file and export them into other output formats depending upon the intended end use of the footage. You will click on the “File” menu and select the “Print to File” option under the “Print” sub-menu. This will open a “Select Exporter Plug-in” window. You will click on the appropriate format class in the left pane and then select the required sub-class in the right pane. Click the “Export” button. This will show the save window. Put in a file name and click on the “Save” button to save the edited file.
