Creating a VR DVD Using MovieFactory
MovieFactory is a type of video editing software that can be used to create DVD-VR format discs. This media format makes it possible to easily create, edit and burn DVDs. There are several different versions available, as the software can create standard DVDs as well as high definition DVDs. It is possible to add music, titles, effects and burn these discs. You can take photos, video clips, data and more, and combine it all on a DVD in the DVD-VR format. The main advantage to VR format is that it is possible to edit the movie directly on the disc.
Step 1: Open the Disc
To add or edit a disc, it is first necessary to open the disc. Insert the DVD disc into the player and open the software. Within the launcher, click edit disc and the edit disc dialog box will open. Click on edit option. To open edit disc media, click okay on the edit video. It is now possible to remove or add different files within the DVD VR format.
Step 2: Add Program
There are several different ways to add sections to the disc. You can choose from Import DVD Video, Add Video or capture these files to the DVD. In order to capture new video files, it will be necessary to have your camera connected to the computer. The easiest way to add video is to have it open within the software. Otherwise, it will be necessary to import any video clips found on your system, but not yet in the MovieFactory software.
Step 3: Separate Clips
It is possible to separate different clips within the video. Any clip or program can be split into sections. Highlight the clip that is to be split. Move to the frame where the split will occur using the navigation controls. Once the desired frame is selected, click Separate Program. The 1 video clip or chapter will be split into 2.
Step 4: Join Programs
While it is possible to separate a clip into 2 sections, it is also possible to join 2 clips into 1. To join these 2 clips, select them and then click on join programs. To join 2 programs, they must be directly next to each other.
Step 5: Delete Content
There is only 1 option for removing content. Select the thumbnail of the video clip and then select Remove Programs.
Step 6: Edit Playlist
DVD-VR format in MovieFactory will create playlists and not menus. It is possible to add a program to the playlist by choosing the desired program from the program list and selecting add to playlist. It is possible to change the order of the playlist by dragging the different clips/programs to the new position. As with the clips themselves, it is possible to separate and join the playlist options. Join together 2 consecutive entries in the list, or split 1 entry into 2.
Step 7: Set Burning Options
Make sure to preview the output before burning the changes. The navigation bar will allow the viewer to preview the video. Once everything is complete and all changes have been made, set the burning options. It is possible to change the name and select the correct burner. To update the disc with the changes that have been made, click Output. The changes will now be burned onto the disc.
