Creating a Time Lapse Movie in Roxio Creator
Creating your own Time Lapse Movie can be a fantastic way of making the ordinary look very special. These movies work by compressing the times of certain events in your movie. These effects are also very easy to do when using software such as Roxio Creator. There are many examples of fantastic time lapse videos, including traveling through the Panama Canal and also simpler things like decorating a Christmas tree.
If you are interested in creating a time lapse video, then it is essential that you use a tripod. The tripod will keep your camera completely steady which will prevent any problems when adding the Time Lapse effects.
Step 1: Opening Roxio Creator
Load Roxio Creator by clicking on it from the start menu of your computer. Then you need to open Video Wave by clicking on "Video - Movies" down the left hand side of the screen. This gives you access to a range of different tools which are useful when working with videos and movies.
If you want to create a time lapse video, then you will need to click the "Edit Video - Advanced" button which is found towards the bottom of the screen.
Step 2: Setting the Project
Now make sure that the "Create a new production" selection is checked. Choose the format of the video; this can be either 16:9 or 4:3 depending on the source file that you are importing.
Step 3: Adding Media
Once you have set up the project, you then need to add photos or videos. To do this, click on the "Add Photo / Video" button at the top of the screen. Then you can select any videos which are stored anywhere on your hard drive. It is also possible to preview the clips in a small preview window so that you can ensure you have the correct videos. Repeat this until you have chosen and imported all of the media that you want to use in your project.
Step 4: Organizing Clips
When all of the clips are imported, you will then need to arrange them. Simply click on them to select them and then drag and drop to position them.
Step 5: Changing the Speed
Now to complete the effect, you will need to change the speed. To do this, double click on the first clip in the sequence and this will launch the video trimmer. At the bottom of the video trimmer, there is a speed setting which can be adjusted. Increasing this will speed up your clip and create the exciting time lapse effect. There is a limit to the amount that you can speed the video up.
If you want to make your video even faster than the limit, then it is possible to export the video then import it again. By increasing the speed again, you will increase the effect. This will make your video very quick. Bear in mind that the more you increase the speed, the shorter the clip would be. If you entered the speed as 4x, then this would mean that a video which was 60 minutes in length would now be 15 minutes.
Step 6: Adding Sound Tracks
Once you have sped up the video, you won't normally want to use the original sound track. To make this professional, add another sound track as the replacement. Click on the "Add Background Audio" button and then select the audio track that you want to use.
