Combining Xara Xtreme and Xara 3D

Xara 3D is an easy to use 3D graphics creation and animation program. But, users can also combine Xara 3D with Xara Xtreme, a Linux open-source graphics creation program. These tools are so easy to use that even a beginner will be able to quickly learn both of these programs.

Step 1: Creating a Graphics in Xara Xtreme

If users have already used Xara Xtreme, then they probably already have created some graphics and images in the program. Xara Xtreme allows users to create detailed graphics using grids and other graphics tools. They can then add color to their artwork.

The problem with Xara Xtreme is that it only creates 2D graphics. So, if a user wishes to transform their graphics into the 3D, they need an additional program. This is where Xara 3D can come in handy, especially since it is only around $30.

Step 2: Importing the Xara Xtreme Graphic in Xara 3D

Once the image graphic has been created, users can import that graphic into Xara 3D to change it from a 2D to a 3D object. Open up the object in Xara 3D, and then start manipulating the look of the graphic. The program should convert the file into 3D when it is imported.

The first thing that a user should do is look at the graphic from all angles to determine where the image needs to be manipulated. This is done by simply dragging the image around with the arrow.

Step 3: Changing the Text

If the user’s image has text, he will probably want to change the color or the font of it. To apply text changes to the entire image, simply double-click in the image and start editing it. The fonts can be found in the top toolbar; users just need to scroll to the correct font.

To change only a certain section of the text, select the pointer button and hold down the shift key. This will only select the section that a user wants to change. The Text icon (located on the left-hand side at the top) will also allow users to change the look of the font. It will open up a pop-up menu with the text. All changes can be previewed in the Preview pane.

Step 4: Changing the Color

The color of the image can also be changed by selected the color option on the left-hand side. To change the object, users just need to select the object, hit the color button, and select the appropriate color. The background color can also be changed in the same way.

Step 5: Adding Effects

Besides changing the color and texts, users can also add effects to their objects. The lighting button (light bulb) will shine light on the object from any direction. Users can also manipulate the shadows cast by the object here. The bevel option will give the object’s edges a rounded look. Users can manipulate the intensity of the bevel effect in the bevel window.

Users can also animate their object in the Animation menu. Animation templates are also available, which add predefined animations to the object.
