How to Replace a Spring and Hinge on a Camera Battery Door
The battery door of a digital camera will be opened and closed regularly in order to charge the battery. This can cause it to wear out or become damaged. If there is any damage to the battery door, then this will need to be replaced. As the weakest areas are the hinge and spring, you should focus your attention on these parts.
Step 1: Find Replacement Parts
Finding replacement parts for your digital camera will probably be the most difficult part of the whole process. Many of these parts are generic, which means a spring from any camera will be sufficient. However, this isn't always the case, and it's probably a better idea to stick to replacement parts specifically for your camera.
Depending on the type of camera you have, the hinge will either be a fairly heavy duty metal hinge, or plastic with a hinge pin through the middle. If a plastic hinge is broken, then this will need more work to correct it. Replacing the plastic battery door cover is normally the only option in these cases.
Step 2: Remove the Battery Cover
The battery door will now need to be removed. Depending on the camera, this is slightly different. Some cameras have the battery door screwed into the hinge. Remove the battery cover and set it aside.
Step 3: Replace the Spring
The spring now needs to be pushed into place. This is fairly fiddly, but is possible with some patience. With everything in place, screw the battery door back in place and check that the door opens properly.Popular P&S Cameras for High Quality Photos:
