How to Recover Pictures Accidentally Deleted on Digital Cameras
Loosing a photograph on your digital camera can be very stressful, which is why many people want to learn how to recover pictures. Most digital cameras will use flash memory cards, which work in a similar way to other computer media. This means that they benefit from the fact that nothing is deleted until the space on the disk is overwritten.
Fortunately, this makes it possible to recover photographs that you've lost from your digital camera's memory card. Recovering them is actually surprisingly simple.
Step 1: Stop using the Camera
As soon as you've accidentally deleted a photo, it's important to stop using the camera right away. This will maximize the chances of recovering the photograph. Deleting on a camera does not really do anything other than mark the file for removal. This means that it's invisible, and that the space is then available for other photos. Until this space is used, however, the original photograph will remain intact.
Step 2: Download Recovery Software
Search for recovery software on the Internet, and read the various reviews about it before you buy. There are many different pieces of recovery software available, and it's important to choose the right one. Most of these are software that you have to purchase, although some of them allow you to scan the memory card for free to check if they will be able to recover the photographs.
Once the recovery software is downloaded, you will then need to install it onto your computer. This should be easy, although you will need to be logged in as a user with administrative privileges.
Step 3: Scanning the Card
Put the card into a memory card reader and put it into your computer. Normally these will plug into a USB port on your computer. It's easier to use a USB memory card reader than to try to use the camera itself. The computer should then recognize it and offer to open it in Windows Explorer. Cancel the option to open it in Explorer, and instead open up your "undelete" application. Then, run a scan of the memory card, looking for deleted files.
Step 4: Viewing Results
The software will then return a list of files that have been deleted from the card but can still be read properly. Look through the results to find the files that you want to recover. Normally it's possible to double-click the files to open and view them. This will make choosing the files you want to recover much easier.
Step 5: Recovering Files
Select the files that you want to recover by clicking the check boxes next to the file names. There are also usually buttons to "select all" or "select none" of the photos. Once you have chosen the files you want to recover, click the button to recover the files. The recovered tiles should then be saved on your computer's hard drive.
Step 6: Formatting the Card
Once you've copied everything off the card, including the deleted files, you will then need to format your card so that it can be used in your camera again.Popular Cameras for High Quality Photos:
