How To Customize the Photoshop Menu

The Photoshop menu can be tweaked to suit your needs. You can hide menu items that you do not use and rearrange the ones that you do use to be more convenient for you.

Step 1 - Window

If you go to the "Window" drop down, you will see a whole list of available displays. Most of these are easily accessible through tabs in the default windows, but you can customize which tab is normally visible by checking the ones that you most want to see. A few are new windows that may or may not be of interest to you. Then go up to "Workspace" and "Save Workspace".

Step 2 - Drop downs

In some versions of Photoshop, you can also manipulate what appears in each drop down. Go to "Edit" and choose "Menus". If this option is not available, then your version will always show you all menu options. When the window pops up, choose the menu tab and select a menu to customize. You can keep a command visible by assigning an eye to it, or hidden by un-clicking the eye. You can also highlight extra important menu items using the color swatch.

Adjusting the Photoshop interface to suit your needs can expedite your work. Altering the menu options is an easy way to maximize productivity.
