Camera Troubleshooting: When the Camera Won't Transfer Images

If your camera won't transfer images, then camera troubleshooting can be very frustrating. You will need to try and get to the bottom of the problem so that you can fix it and start transferring the photos very easily.

Checking the Cable

The first thing that you need to do is check that the cable is securely attached to your computer. You will also need to make sure that there isn't any damage to the cable which could stop it from working properly. If you are using a USB cable, then you can try disconnecting it and connecting it again to see if this solves the problem. Sometimes this will install the necessary drivers to resolve the problem with your camera.

If you are using a serial cable, then you might need to restart your computer before the comptuer will recognize the device. If possible, try using a USB cable.

Using Auto Power Off

Many cameras have an auto power off feature to try and save some of the battery power in your camera. Try to turn this off so that the camera does not switch itself off when you are trying to transfer images.

Using a Different Computer

If you are really having problems transferring the images, then you could consider using a different computer. This makes it possible to determine whether the problem is caused by your computer or the camera.
