Tips for Taking Grade School Graduation Photos
Elementary school graduation photos mark a child's progress through his early school years. To capture these important events, make sure that your digital camera has fresh batteries and your memory card size will be suitable for the number of photos you plan to take.
Check the Location
Depending on if the ceremony will be held indoors or outdoors, you must choose the appropriate setting on your digital camera or adjust the white balance. Using a flash may be necessary indoors or outdoors depending on the lighting available. Before the ceremony starts, take a few test shots to make sure your settings will work.
Choose a spot where you can take photos from that is close to your subjects. This will allow you to take close up pictures that will capture the emotion and excitement of the day. As you are shooting grade school children, take your photos from their eye level.
For posed shots, choose a solid colored background as busier backgrounds will detract from your school graduation photos. Mix in some candid shots from before and after the ceremony. Take photos from your subject's eye level for the best results. You can also use a continuous shooting setting on your camera to shoot many photos quickly.
