Photographing Babies? Take a Million Shots

Photographing babies can be a very rewarding and enjoyable experience, but it can also be extremely frustrating. Children are difficult to work with at the best of times, and when they can't talk properly yet, it's impossible to reason with them. Taking photographs of babies is, however, something that is very easy as long as you are patient.

Be Patient

Babies can get impatient and stroppy, especially when they're being made to do something they have no interest in. That's why you need to make the whole experience as interesting as possible for them. Pull faces, use puppets...do whatever you can to make the babies happy and content.

Be Trigger Happy

One of the wonderful things about digital cameras is that you can take millions of photos without wasting a single roll of film. All of the photos are stored on digital memory cards, which can be wiped and used again. There's no reason why you shouldn't take lots of baby photos so that you can stand the best chance of finding a great photo.

Babies change their facial expressions very quickly and won't be posing for you. They will only smile when you do something which makes them smile. It's your job to take as many photos as possible so that you can capture some great shots. You might end up deleting a lot of the photos, but that really doesn't matter. The most important thing is that you have some fantastic photos which will make the parents very happy.
