The Importance of Senior Portrait Photography
Senior portrait photography captures one of the most important aspects of a person’s life. It allows seniors to show the world who they are in a creative way. In the past, photography for seniors was limited to a formal headshot photographed against a plain black or white backdrop. Photographing seniors is becoming a lucrative business with parents willing to pay extra to accommodate for more out-of-the-box ideas.
Location and Lighting
The goal is to create an environment where the subject is comfortable. Photography studios are no longer limited to indoor spaces. It is possible to be photographed in a garden or wooded area, a space that the subject can relax and be at ease. This makes it easier for the subject to pose for the shot. With taking photographs in the outdoors, there is a greater amount of light available but is more challenging to control or work with.
As the senior photo consists primarily of a headshot, the focus of the image should be on the subject. Although the subject has the option of wearing any type of clothing, from a casual shirt to a gown or suit and tie, they are advised to choose carefully. Certain clothing can add pounds to the individual’s final image or detract attention away from the subject.
