4 Masters of Black and White Landscape Photography
Black and white landscape photography can be a very striking and beautiful way to showcase photography. Here are some of the masters of black and white landscape photography over the years:
1. Ansel Adams
Ansel Adams is one of the great black and white landscape photographers in the U.S., known mostly for his pictures of the Yosemite Valley in California. His interest began when his family gifted him with a camera when he was a boy on a trip to that area. That began his career and eventually he became one of the best-known landscape photographers in America.
2. Carleton E. Watkins
Watkins was also a landscape photographer from California. From the 1800s, he also took landscape photos of the Yosemite Valley, which seems to be popular with photographers.
3. Timothy H. O'Sullivan
O’Sullivan is famous for his black and white shots of civil war battlefields and their solemn landscapes. O'Sullivan became a photographer for the Geological Exploration of the Fortieth Parallel. Some of his photos were published in books about the Civil War.
4. Giles Norman
Norman was one of the first Irish black and white photographers famous for seascapes and other landscapes. He began his career after he got his first camera at age 18. Some of his work includes photos featuring Irish countrysides in Kinsdale, Kerry and West Cork. He is considered one of Ireland’s leading black and white photographers.
