Xara Xtreme: Making a Star Design

Creating designs on the Xara Xtreme is extremely easy. Though it’s not as popular as its Adobe counterparts, this open source vector illustration software is a great tool for those on the UNIX platforms. This software has enough features to create decent vector designs, both in 2D and 3D. You can even create different shape designs to place your text in.

One example of a popular design on the Xara Xtreme is the star. If you want to enclose your 3D text or design in a star shape, these are the steps you need to take:

Step 1: Prepare Your Design

Simply open a new document, and either import your design or text, or create a new one. For instance, you can simply type a text that you can render in 3D.

Step 2: Choose the Star

Once you’re done, simply click File. From the dropdown menu, click on Import Design. A window will pop up with some design choices, choose StarXar2.x3d. Automatically, your artwork or text will be placed in this star design. Your work will be a vector file rendered in 3D.
