Xara Designer: Aligning Objects
Selected objects may be aligned or distributed using Xara Designer. When creating a user interface or other structured pages, such as web pages, it is always important to align the objects. The following steps show you how you can easily do this.
Step 1: Click on Arrange
On the information bar at the top of the interface, you will see a number of menus namely, file, edit, arrange, utilities, window and help. The first thing that you need to do is to click on arrange. Once you have done this, click on Alignment. This will prompt an object alignment dialogue to appear. Another shortcut of prompting the object alignment dialogue can be done by clicking CTRL, SHIFT and the L button on your keyboard simultaneously. This is convenient, especially if you are fast on the keyboard.
Step 2: Set Object Alignment Settings
The object alignment has a number of settings, which include selection bounds, pages, spread and horizontal positions. All these have different functionalities. For example, if you want to align the object horizontally, select on align centrally under Horizontal positions and then click on apply. You can also distribute the objects vertically.
Step 3: Vertical Positions
To distribute the object positions vertically, click on the vertical positions drop down menu and click on distribute positions. After doing this, click on apply. Selecting both the horizontal and the vertical positions depend on the kind of alignment that you would like to have in the interface or structured page.
