Using Bevels in Xara Designer

Xara Designer is a WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) website editor that allows you to create the best looking websites without having any HTML coding knowledge. The pages that you create in Xara designer, once completed, are usable and ready to upload to your remote public server. The following article focuses on the creation and customization of bevels using the Xara Designer.

Step 1: Adding the Bevel

The bevel tools let you quickly and easily apply, remove or modify a bevel for any particular drawing, figure or shape in the Xara Designer. Using the bevel tool is the easiest way to add depth to your illustrations in Xara Designer. To create a bevel on an object, you will click on the object to select it. Then, proceed to click on the bevel tool in the left hand side toolbar.

Step 2: Customizing the Bevel

You will now select the bevel type from the top menu. There are a lot of options to choose from depending on what you need to do. This will apply a bevel to your creation, and then you will adjust the light angle and the contrast to fit it to your needs. The light angle and contrast can be modified using the mouse movements or the controls in the top menu. These controls provide dropdowns and sliders to adjust the required parameters, but you can also enter a suitable value.

You can also choose the type of the bevel (inner or outer bevel) from the control button in the top menu. Additionally, you can control the bevel colors by using the color spectrum bar. You will first need to select the object and the bevel, and then change the colors accordingly. This can be done to a single object or multiple objects and bevel selections.

You should now go ahead and try various combinations to give you the kind of bevel form desired.
