Pinnacle Studio: Insert Editing in the Timeline
Insert editing in the Timeline refers to replacing part of the video track while the original audio track is not touched. Insert editing can also refer to replacing part of the original audio track while the video track is not touched. By default, Pinnacle Studio treats the original audio track and video track as a unit. In order to edit the video track independently of the original audio track, the original audio track needs to be temporarily locked. This guideline will go over directions for performing an insert edit on the video track. If you need to perform an insert edit on the original audio track, simply reverse the roles of the two tracks at each step.
Step 1: Locking the Original Audio Track
To begin performing an insert edit on the video track, the original audio track needs to be locked. In order to lock the original audio track, you must have the Movie Window opened in the Timeline view. In the Timeline, you will notice a set of controls located on the right hand side of the original audio track. By clicking on the padlock icon, you will be able to lock the original audio track. When the padlock icon is pressed, the entire original audio track will be grayed out. Pinnacle Studio grays out the original audio track to inform you that the contents of the original audio track will not be affected by any editing operations.
Step 2: Clearing Space
The purpose of insert editing on a video track is to add additional video to the video track. Before you can add the additional video, you need to clear space on the main video track. To begin clearing space, you will need to move the Timeline scrubber over the exact point of where you want the new video to start. With the Timeline scrubber in position, click the Split clip/scene button. You will then need to move the Timeline scrubber to the exact point of where you want the new video to end. With the Timeline scrubber in position, click the Split clip/scene button.
Step 3: Placing the New Video Clip
Now that you have cleared space on the main video track, you are ready to place the new video clip on the track. To place the new video clip onto the main video track, all you have to do is drag the clip and drop it into the space that you have cleared. You most likely will be dragging the video clip from either the Album or the Project Bin.
If the clip that you are trying to insert is longer than the space you have cleared, Pinnacle Studio will automatically trim the clip so that it fits. You can adjust how the clip was trimmed by using the Clip properties tool. Once you are finished with adjusting the new video clip, click the padlock button on the original audio track to unlock the track.Popular Cameras for High Quality Photos:
