Pinnacle Studio: How To Set Up the Make Tape Settings

In Pinnacle Studio, there is no need for you to manually set up the make tape settings. Pinnacle Studio will automatically configure the Make Tape settings for you based off of the hardware you have installed. In most cases, you will be printing, or making your tape, to a digital video device. Instead of having to start and stop the device yourself, or control the printing, you can set up Pinnacle Studio to handle that for you. This guideline will go over the directions for allowing Pinnacle Studio to control the printing automatically, as well as the analog make tape options.

Analog Options

In the event that you are recording to an analog device instead of a digital video device, Pinnacle Studio will present you with two settings. The first setting will be the analog output. You will only be able to view the analog output setting if your hardware supports it. The analog output setting will ask you to select either the Composite or S-Video format.

You will also be asked to select an option for the output to the screen setting. This setting will be displayed as VGA display. If you enable the VGA display, which is located on the Video drop down in the Playback devices area, your tape will be played back onto your monitor.

Step 1: Make Movie

To begin to allow Pinnacle Studio to control the printing of your tape automatically, you need to click the Make Movie button. The Make Movie button is located on the main menu bar in the Movie Window. When you click on the Make Movie button, the upper half of the Movie Window will change to the Make Movie window.

Step 2: Accessing the Make Tape Options Panel

With the Make Movie window open, you now need to access the Make Tape options panel. To do this, click on the Tape tab, which is located in the Make Movie window. After you have clicked on the Tape tab, click on the Settings button. This will cause the Make Tape options panel to open.

Step 3: Automatically Start and Stop Recording

Once you have opened the Make Take options panel, you will need to check the box that reads Automatically start and stop recording. By checking that box, you will be instructing Pinnacle Studio to control the printing of your tape automatically. Once you have checked the box, click on the OK button in the Make Tape options panel.

Step 4: Beginning the Printing

After you clicked the OK button, the Make Tape options panel should have closed. Once the panel has closed, click on the Create button. When you click on the Create button, Pinnacle Studio will begin to render your movie. Once the movie has been rendered, you will be asked to press the play button, which is located in the Player. As soon as you press the play button, Pinnacle Studio will begin to record your tape.
