Pinnacle Studio: How To Set Up the Make RealVideo File Settings

In Pinnacle Studio, you will use the Make Real Media File options panel to set up the RealVideo file settings. RealVideo files are created to be played back with the RealNetworks RealPlayer. This guideline will go over the main functions of each of the settings in the Make Real Media File options panel.

Title, Author and Copyright

The title, author and copyright fields are the first three fields that you will see listed under the Data section of the Make Real Media File options panel. These fields are used only to identity each Real Media movie. They are not visible to the viewer.

Keywords

The keywords field is located right next to the title, author and copyright fields. The keywords that you enter will be encoded into the movie. The main purpose of the keywords are to identify your movie for Internet search engines. The keywords field will accept up to 256 characters.

Video Quality

The video quality drop down list is located under the copyright field. The video quality options are no video, normal motion video, smoothest motion video, sharpest image video and slide slow. Select no video if your project contains audio only. You should use the normal motion video option if your project contains a balance of video motion and image clarity.

The smoothest motion video option is recommended for clips that contain little physical movement, such as newscasts. Select the sharpest image video option if you want to enhance the clarity of the images in your project. You should select the slide show option if your project contains still images only.

Audio Quality

The audio quality drop down list is located under the keywords field. The audio quality options are no audio, voice only, voice with background music, music and stereo music. As the name suggests, the no audio option is for projects that contain video only. You should select the voice only option if your project contains no music.

Select the voice with background music option if your project contains mostly spoken audio with very little background music. The music option is for projects that contain mostly music and little voice. You should choose the stereo music option if your project contains a stereo music track.

Web Server

The web server options are located at the bottom of the Make Real Media File options panel. If you select the RealServer option, you will be able to create a file that can be streamed from a RealNetworks RealServer. You can only select the RealServer option if your ISP has the RealServer software installed. Select the HTTP setting if you want to optimize the playback of your project for a specific target audience option.

Target Audience

The target audience options are located on the right hand side of the Make Real Media File options panel, next to the Data section. The target audience options allow you to select a modem connect speed. When you select one of the target audiences, you are specifying a maximum bandwidth for your RealMedia stream. A few of the target audience options are dial-up modem, single ISDN, dual ISDN and corporate LAN.
