Pinnacle Studio: How To Set Up the Capture Source Settings
In Pinnacle Studio, the capture source settings panel contains three areas. Those areas are capture devices, scene detection during video capture and data rate. The changes that you make to the capture source settings panel will be used every time you capture video in Pinnacle Studio. This guideline will go over how to set up the various capture source settings.
Capture Devices - Video
You will need to click on the video drop down list to select the video capture device that you wish to use. The drop down list that is generated by Pinnacle Studio contains both digital and analog video equipment. Depending upon the device that you select, some of the options in the capture source settings panel may not be available.
Capture Devices - Audio
The audio drop down list is located directly beneath the video drop down list. The video device that you select will determine which audio devices are available in the audio drop down list. For example, if you select an analog video device, you will be able to select any of your sound card inputs from the audio drop down list.
Capture Devices - TV Standard
The options available in the TV standard drop down list are NTSC and PAL. If you intend on watching your movie in North America or Japan, select NTSC. For all other countries, select PAL. If you purchased Pinnacle Studio in North America, your TV standard option will be permanently set to NTSC.
Capture Devices - Use Overlay
The use overlay check-box is located below the TV standard drop down list. You will only be able to check the use overlay box if you are performing an analog capture in Pinnacle Studio. By checking the use overlay box, the preview of your movie will be smoother. However, not all graphics cards support the use overlay option.
Capture Devices - Capture Preview
The capture preview check-box is located below the use overlay check-box. When the box is checked, all incoming video will be previewed in the Player during capture. As a general guideline, you should only turn the capture preview option off if you are experiencing dropped frames during capture.
Scene Detection During Video Capture
There are four scene detection during video capture options available. If you select automatic based on shooting time and date, Pinnacle Studio will monitor the time stamp on your video and create a new scene whenever there is a discontinuity in the time. The automatic based on video content option will instruct Pinnacle Studio to monitor your video and create a new scene whenever there is a drastic change in the images. The third option allows you to tell Pinnacle Studio to create a new scene every X seconds. If you select no auto scene detection, you will need to press the Space key to create new scenes manually.
You will need to press the test data rate button in the data rate field. If the drive that is set can't accept the default digital video data rate, a dialog box will appear in Pinnacle Studio that will allow you to choose another drive on your computer that may accept the default data rate.Popular Cameras for High Quality Photos:
