Pinnacle Studio: How To Open a Captured Video File

To open a captured video file in Pinnacle Studio, you first need to locate the folder that the file is saved to. By default, Pinnacle Studio will save captured video files to the Windows public video folder. If you changed the default location of where captured video files are to be saved to, you will need to use the Files mode in Pinnacle Studio to locate the folder.

Step 1 - Opening a Folder

In Pinnacle Studio, the Files mode is used to display folder contents. Files mode will display both the sub-folders and the digital video files that are located within the selected folder. With Files mode open, there are three ways to open a folder.

You will notice that there is a Videos section in Files mode. From the Videos section, click the drop down list and select the name of the folder that you wish to open. You can also double click any folder that is listed in the Videos section to open it.

In both Files and Scenes mode, there is a parent folder button. The parent folder button looks like a little folder with an upward pointing arrow located within the folder. You can click on the parent folder button to open a folder.

The final way to open a folder is to click on the browse for file button. The browse for file button looks like a plain manila folder. With Files or Scenes mode open, you can use the Open dialog to search for a digital video file. When you click on a file, Pinnacle Studio will automatically open the file. With the file open, go to Files mode and you will be able to view the parent folder of the file.

Step 2 - Opening a File

You can open a source video file by simply double clicking on the file from the parent folder. Pinnacle Studio will automatically launch the source file when you click it. In Pinnacle Studio, the source video file will contain the various scene files that are located within the source video. Pinnacle Studio gives you three options for opening video scene files.

The first option is to open the Videos section. The Videos section in Pinnacle Studio is located within the Scenes mode. With the Videos section open, you will be able to use the drop down list to select the name of the video file that you wish to open.

You can also open a captured video file by clicking on the browse for file button. As described above, the browse for file button looks like a plain manila folder. By using the Open dialog, you will be able to locate any and all digital video files that are located on the hard drive of your computer.

The final way to open a captured video file is to open Files mode. From Files mode, all you have to do is double click on any digital video files that are listed.
