DVD Studio Pro: Burning Issues and SD DVD
Creating SD DVD content using DVD Studio Pro is very easy. DVD Studio Pro is one of the most powerful DVD authoring applications available at the moment. This is included with Final Cut Pro and makes it really easy to create professional DVDs, which can be played in a regular DVD player.
Step 1: Exporting Videos
If you are using Final Cut Pro, then you will need to export your
video in MPEG-2 format. This will make it possible to import it easily
into DVD Studio Pro. To export your video, click the "File" menu and
select "Export". Then, choose Quick time to bring up the export popup
window. In the dialog box which appears, select MPEG 2 in the format
menu at the bottom of the screen.
If you are not able to export
in MPEG 2, then this could be because DVD studio is not installed and
using a genuine license code. You will also be unable to use the MPEG
encoder on anything older than a G4 processor.
In the options
box, you can select the aspect ratio, video system and decide whether or
not audio will be saved. If you are using audio in your clip, then you
should ensure that the audio is saved.
Step 2: Testing Export
It takes a long time and a lot of disk space to export your videos and encode them in MPEG. It's a good idea to test a small section of the video before exporting the whole thing. This will ensure that you don't end up wasting too much time.
Step 3: Re-Encoding Audio
If you selected the save audio option when creating your MPEG 2 file, you will also have an AIFF file. It's possible to import AIFF files directly into DVD Studio Pro, however, you will save space if you convert into an AC3 file first.
Step 4: Creating DVD
Now you are ready to author your DVD. DVD Studio Pro is ultimately a
DVD authoring application. This is used to mix together audio and video
tracks. It's also possible to use this application to create interactive
menus to make your DVD look much more professional.
The first
thing that you need to do is set up all of the assets in your project by
importing them. Click on the import button and select all of the media
that you want to use in your project.
DVD Studio Pro cannot be
used to create any content. The only purpose of this application is to
arrange content which has been made using Final Cut Studio or other
applications.
Drag the assets from the asset window and onto the
timeline where you want them to appear. It's also possible to adjust
the duration of each clip.
Step 5: Preview and Burn
Click the simulate button at the top of the screen to see what your project will look like. If you are happy with it, click the burn button to burn it to a blank DVD disc.
