Changing the Background Color in Xara Xtreme

For UNIX platform systems, one of the best photo manipulation and illustration open source software available is the Xara Xtreme. This graphics design software is packed with features that can keep up with the more popular ones found on the market today. Keep in mind that Xara Xtreme is a vector illustration tool, and as such some commands may work differently from photo manipulation software.

In terms of changing the background color for your work done on Xara Xtreme, don’t treat it as a bitmap editing program. For the popular bitmap drawing programs, changing the background color works like filling up a flat area with some paint. For vector drawing software like Xara Xtreme, since it’s scalable, a working rectangular space has to be placed behind the object which you then fill with color. Here are the steps you should take in order to change the background color in Xara Xtreme:

Step 1: Prepare Your Artwork

Start a new document, and import your work into it. You can also just begin your new project on this space.

Step 2: Change Background Color

Once you’re done importing or creating your artwork, right click on the background space. A pop-up menu will appear; select “Change Background Color” from the dropdown menu.

Step 3: Choose Your Color

A panel with color options will open up, and you get to choose the exact color that you want your background to be. Press OK and you’re done!
